We have been advising Bremen since 1983

We are Bremen natives — Hanseatics in the best sense of the word. That means we do what we say and stand by our commitments. You can rely on us in all matters of auditing and tax consulting. We understand our mandates as both professional and personal advisory services, shaped through direct dialogue from entrepreneur to entrepreneur.

Our work goes far beyond numbers. It requires close, attentive support on an equal footing, as well as clear and open communication. Only in this way can respect and trust develop—forming the foundation for long‑term cooperation with our clients, particularly medium‑sized companies from the region and throughout Germany.

Having grown organically since 1983, we now operate from a single location with three companies. We employ nearly 50 people. Our headquarters are located in Villa Wolde on Bremen’s Osterdeich—a historic building that, following its renovation, meets contemporary standards. A house is as Hanseatic as we see ourselves.

An overview of recent years

 

1983:

The company was founded as  BMT Hanseatische Treuhandelsgesellschaft mbH Steuerberatungsgesellschaft, with its headquarters in Bremen.


1997:

Wolfgang Wingerning acquired all shares of the company. In addition, Felix Senge and Rainer Gerstmayr joined the partnership. Four years later, the company was renamed  WSG Hanseatische Treuhandgesellschaft mbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft, reflecting the names of the partners.


1998:

After extensive renovation, the company moved to Villa Wolde on Bremen’s Osterdeich. The project was realized in close and trusting cooperation with the property owner, who is also a long-standing client of WSG. Built between 1896 and 1898 in the Historicist style, the villa is protected by the state as an architectural monument.


2001:

The company established a branch office in Sittensen, headed by certified public auditor Hans‑Peter Willenbrock, who was admitted to the partnership at the same time.

Establishment of WSG Hanseatische Consulting GmbH Steuerberatungsgesellschaft, which is responsible for project business – initially in the field of specialist IT consulting, today more in the field of corporate restructuring.


2006:

The partnership  WSG Wingerning Senge Gerstmayr Wirtschaftsprüfer Steuerberater  was formed from the auditing and tax advisory practice of Wolfgang Wingerning, which had been operated as a individually owned practice for more than ten years.


2008:

Patrick Grabowski joined the companies as a new partner.


2013:

Wolfgang Wingerning retired from his role as an active partner.


2015:

The tax advisory practice of Ulrich Schwanemann was acquired, and the firm was subsequently renamed  WSG Schwanemann Wirtschaftsprüfer Steuerberater. Around 15 employees provide traditional tax

consulting services for SMEs, freelancers, and private individuals.

Felix Senge stepped down as an active partner. Kai Furche, who has been a shareholder of  WSG Hanseatische Consulting  since 2009, joined the other companies as a new partner.


2016/2017:

Extensive interior renovation of Villa Wolde.


2019:

WSG Schwanemann moved from its former premises on Hollerallee to Villa Wolde.


2023:

Christopher Schmidt joined the companies as a new partner.

Patrick Grabowski  retired as an active partner.


2024:

The two partnerships  WSG Wingerning Senge Gerstmayr  and  WSG Schwanemann were merged to form  WSG Bremen PartmbB.
At the same time, Stefan Lübben joined the companies as a new partner.

How we work

We see ourselves as partners for medium-sized businesses and entrepreneurs. Our strength and passion lies in providing comprehensive support to our clients – both professionally and personally. We offer a complete portfolio of services from a single source for auditing, tax consulting and accounting. As entrepreneurs with many years of experience ourselves, we know what medium-sized businesses need.

Honest and open communication is the basis for a trusting working relationship. We are always in dialogue and want to be available at all times. We explain what we do and why – clearly, comprehensively and transparently. In order to find the best solution together with our clients, we continuously seek feedback from all parties involved. This is especially important when implementation becomes complex or difficult.

Each client has several personal contacts – always one of our four partners and an experienced employee. The latter is usually responsible for the operational business. The partner is always informed about the status of the mandate and intervenes in the consulting process if necessary. Working in tandem guarantees our clients reliable, high-quality support.

We work together with our clients' solicitors or tax advisors in a straightforward and professional manner. And if necessary, we bring colleagues from our personal networks on board, especially when international or very specific problems need to be solved.

 

Auditing:


Conducting voluntary and statutory annual and consolidated financial statement audits.

Conducting special audits such as start-up, credit and management audits, over-indebtedness and embezzlement audits, and audits of settlement and liquidation balance sheets.

Conducting special audits such as audits of the use of funds, audits in accordance with the HGrG, § 34c GewO and MaBV.

Performing other business management auditing tasks such as cost and price audits, performing internal audits and controlling activities, reviewing internal control systems and organisational audits.

 

Tax consulting:


Preparing all tax returns.

Representation before the tax office (out-of-court appeal proceedings) and representation before all tax courts.

Negotiations with the tax offices in assessment and enforcement proceedings.

Assistance and cooperation in tax audits and social security audits/professional association audits, simulation of digital audits.

 

Accounting:


Provision of all payroll and financial accounting services, including all necessary reporting and declaration obligations using Datev solutions, and, if necessary, temporary representation in your company's accounting department.

Preparation of annual financial statements and income surplus accounts for commercial and freelance entrepreneurs (also with plausibility assessments or comprehensive audit procedures) as well as preparation of cost accounts.

Preparation of consolidated annual financial statements and special balance sheets such as liquidation and settlement balance sheets.

Introduction of Datev solutions in client accounting, ongoing support and advice on application and general questions and problems in accounting.

Support and advice on the disclosure of annual financial statements and submission of documents (upload of specially adapted data) to the electronic Federal Gazette.

 

Management consulting:


Support in negotiations with credit institutions, public authorities and other business partners, financing and investment consulting, preparation of financial planning calculations, preparation of meaningful bank documents and advice on improving bank ratings.

Support in restructuring (changes in legal form, mergers, demergers, changes in shareholders) for individual companies or entire groups of companies.

Support for company acquisitions and sales, and development of company and asset succession arrangements.

Restructuring and insolvency consulting, development of restructuring concepts, including support for conceptual implementation in cooperation with WSG Hanseatischen Consulting GmbH.

Advice on start-ups.

 

Other activities:


Expert opinions, namely in the form of company valuations, arbitration opinions, tax law issues and restructuring opinions, as well as the performance of fiduciary activities.
